Methodology

Understand each data source, reporting period and analysis formula.

Official records, visible sources

Company identities and filings come from SEC EDGAR; financial statements come from SEC Financial Statement Data Sets and company financial records. Fund identities are matched to SEC series and class records.

Matching periods and units

Financial metrics use supported US-GAAP fields in USD for annual reporting periods. SEC Financial Statement Data Sets period dates have monthly precision and are shown as month and year; exact dates from SEC company financial records and filings include the day. Revenue and cash flow changes use adjacent annual periods with a positive previous value. Missing or incomparable values are not filled with zero.

Understanding data time

Each view shows its data timestamp, and financial values show their period end and filing date. When a source is temporarily unavailable, the last available data is displayed with its original timestamp.

Measuring research interest

Research opens are aggregated into anonymous daily counters. Public rankings require at least 25 opens, 3 active days and 3 different instruments. Each period is compared with the previous equivalent period. Raw events and persistent visitor identifiers are not stored.

Reading the analysis

Financial ratios can mean different things across business models. Consider them alongside their source periods. Fundamental scores and research trends are not investment advice or buy/sell signals.
